Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow Book Club Kit
Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow by Gabrielle Zevin is the official March 2024 pick for the Peanut Blossom Book Club for Recovering Readers.
Since Ready Player One is one of my husband’s all-time favorite books, I’m predisposed to be interested in books about the video game industry.
This month’s book pick checks all kinds of fun boxes:
- 90s Childhood References
- Creative Video Game Industry Setting
- Love Triangle Drama
- Women in Tech
- Long Time Span / Modern Time Historical Fiction
When I read the book last summer, I found myself highlighting quote after quote and I just knew it had to make this year’s list.
P.S. Just joining us? Don’t miss the full 2024 line-up for our book club picks.

What is Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow About?
“On a bitter-cold day, in the December of his junior year at Harvard, Sam Masur exits a subway car and sees, amid the hordes of people waiting on the platform, Sadie Green. He calls her name. For a moment, she pretends she hasn’t heard him, but then, she turns, and a game begins: a legendary collaboration that will launch them to stardom.
These friends, intimates since childhood, borrow money, beg favors, and, before even graduating college, they have created their first blockbuster, Ichigo.
Overnight, the world is theirs. Not even twenty-five years old, Sam and Sadie are brilliant, successful, and rich, but these qualities won’t protect them from their own creative ambitions or the betrayals of their hearts.”
Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow Discussion Questions
I believe the best book club questions to spark a lively discussion in your group help readers make personal connections to the story.
You can read about how to write the best book club questions on your own here, but hopefully these will get you started!
Question 1:
Have you ever played video games? Which ones were/are your favorite? If you haven’t played, why not? Did reading this book change your mind?
Question 2:
Which of the story’s video games would you be more excited to play yourself: Ichigo or Mapleworld? Why?
Question 3:
How would you describe this book to a friend? Is it a love story? Is it historical fiction? Is it science fiction?
Question 4:
What part of creating a video game do you think you would enjoy the most?
Question 5:
If you created a video game about your own life, what would it be like? Who would be the hero and what would be the challenge?
Question 6:
How did you feel about Sadie’s progression through the male-dominated video game industry? Would you have made the same choices she did or would you have veered onto another path and at what point?
Question 7:
Technology changes quickly even within the span of the story of this book. What shifts in technology have made the biggest impact on your life? How about the lives of your kids or the kids you know?\
Book Club Party Menu
I think it is so fun to plan your book club dinner menu or dessert list based on the theme of the book.
In the case of Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, there are several key plot points that lend themselves to a fun book club menu:
Peaches and Strawberries
Peach trees and strawberry fields appear in a prominent video game moment at the end of the story.
Pick a few recipes that feature this fresh produce for easy nibbles:
Pizza
Sam’s grandparents’ pizza restaurant is a frequently mentioned location throughout the story. Serve a selection of take out pizzas or bake your own as part of the book club party:
Korean BBQ or Sushi
Keep things easy and pick up a few trays of your favorite sushi or some take-out Korean BBQ with plenty of sides.
