24 hours. That’s how long it took me to finish reading the first book of the new year.

Talk about kicking off with a bang!

I usually love to pick an especially easy read to start off the new year since we have hundreds of new members joining us, each making a goal to rediscover their lost love of reading and enjoy more books in the coming months.

This breezy romance captured my attention and I couldn’t put the book down, staying up to the wee hours of the night to finish it. I hope you love it just as much!

P.S. Just joining us? Don’t miss the full 2024 line-up for our book club picks.

What is Nora Goes Off Script About?

“Romance channel screenwriter Nora Hamilton knows the formula for love better than anyone. But when her too-good-to-work husband leaves her and their two kids, Nora turns her marriage’s collapse into cash, writing the best script of her life.

When it’s picked up for the big screen and set to film at her home with former Sexiest Man Alive, Leo Vance, cast as her ex-husband, Nora’s life will never be the same.

After shooting wraps, Nora finds Leo on her porch with a half-empty bottle of tequila and a proposition. He’ll pay a thousand dollars a day to stay for a week. She could use the money, but it’s the need in his eyes that makes her say yes.

Seven days: it’s the blink of an eye or an eternity depending on how you look at it. Enough time to fall in love. Enough time to break your heart.”

Nora Goes Off Script Discussion Questions

I believe the best book club questions to spark a lively discussion in your group help readers make personal connections to the story.

You can read about how to write the best book club questions on your own here, but hopefully these will get you started!

    Question 1:

Choose a moment from your life to write a screenplay about. Who would you cast as the main characters? Would you keep the ending as it happened or change it?

    Question 2:

Would you have accepted Leo’s offer to pay $1000/day to stay at your home or on your property? What would you have told him?

    Question 3:

Who was your favorite character in the book? Why did you enjoy that person so much?

    Question 4:

If this book was made into a movie, who would you cast as the main characters?

    Question 5:

How did the end of Nora’s marriage to Ben make you feel? Could you relate? Have you ever been relieved by a break up?

    Question 6:

Would you enjoy taking the place of Penny and being Nora’s “wing woman” during the key plot points of the novel? What would be your favorite part?

    Question 7:

How do you think Nora handled the situation with Leo when it came to her kids? Would you have done anything differently?

    Book Club Party Menu

I think it is so fun to plan your book club dinner menu or dessert list based on the theme of the book.

In the case of Nora Goes Off Script, I think it would be so fun to plan either pizza and cupcakes like the porch deliveries Leo arranges or a revenge roast chicken and a bottle of wine!
