If your book club members don't celebrate Christmas, it is nice to wind the year down with some fun and festive books that focus on family, romance, and good food.
I actually read this as a New Year's Eve book one year and I just loved it. It is sweet and heartwarming and definitely inspires you that it is never too late to have an adventure.
SUMMARY:
Sixty-nine-year-old Arthur Pepper lives a simple life. He gets out of bed at precisely 7:30 a.m., just as he did when his wife, Miriam, was alive. He dresses in the same gray slacks and mustard sweater vest, waters his fern, Frederica, and heads out to his garden.
But on the one-year anniversary of Miriam’s death, something changes. Sorting through Miriam’s possessions, Arthur finds an exquisite gold charm bracelet he’s never seen before. SUMMARY:
After realizing her coworkers at L’Ombre, a high-profile restaurant in NYC, will never appreciate or respect her, Charlie Garrett allows her ex-boyfriend, Avery Michaels, to convince her to work for him as executive pastry chef at his new Seattle hotspot, Thrill. She’ll have her own kitchen, her own staffeverything she ever wanted professionally.

Magic, romance, and pretty pretty dresses. I just adored this whimsical book.

I devoured Hello, Sunshine by this author over the summer. This one is described as "a story about the messy realities of family, the strength (and weaknesses) of romantic love, and the importance of finding a place to call home." And it all takes place at a winery?? Yes, please!

We read this book just before Thanksgiving and I enjoyed the mystery element to this food-themed book so much.

It's true that Anna Trent is a supervisor in a chocolate factory...but that doesn't necessarily mean she knows how to make chocolate. And when a fateful accident gives her the opportunity to work at Paris's elite chocolatier Le Chapeau Chocolat, Anna expects to be outed as a fraud.
