If you love the Bad Monkey series starring Vince Vaughn on Apple TV+, you will love these humorous mystery books set in Florida and other beachy locations.

My husband and I are absolutely loving the Bad Monkey series starring Vince Vaughn as Detective Andrew Yancy.

I suggested we watch because my dad has been a huge fan of author Carl Hiaasen, the mastermind behind the series, for as long as I can remember. However, my husband wasn’t even aware that Bad Monkey is based on a book by the same name!

Bad Monkey Preview

If you’re not sure about the tv show I’m referencing, here’s a peek at the Bad Monkey trailer. Vince Vaughn was so perfectly cast in my opinion:

Dry, sarcastic humor is my all-time favorite thing. Add that to a cast of seriously quirky characters in a sunny Florida setting, and you’ve got Carl Hiaasen in a nutshell.

If after a few episodes, you find yourself longing for more, I pulled together a list of books like Bad Monkey to keep you entertained as the rest of the series rolls out.

You’ll find the original book at the top of the list along with Bad Monkey, Book 2. Fingers crossed that’s next in the tv production line-up for a Season 2!

I also included some popular beach mystery authors, in particular my very favorite Mary Kay Andrews who has written two of our book club picks over the years (Summer Rental and The Weekenders.)

Fun Books Like Bad Monkey

Carl Hiaasen is the king of funny mystery books set in Florida–witty page turners with memorable characters you’ll be thinking about for a long time.

If you enjoyed Bad Monkey the book or the series, I think you’ll also love these other fun mysteries.
