Lovelight Farms Book Review
Check out my review of Lovelight Farms by B.K. Borison, a sweet holiday romance between two best friends.
I needed a book to carry me through the insanely busy Christmas week: something light, festive, and easy to read in teeny-tiny bursts.
Lovelight Farms was a perfect pick and checked all my required boxes. Though it is easily a great Christmas read, you could enjoy this sweet story any time during the winter.

Summary of Lovelight Farms
Two best friends fake date to reach their holiday happily ever after in this first romantic comedy in the Lovelight series.
A pasture of dead trees. A hostile takeover of the Santa barn by a family of raccoons. And shipments that have mysteriously gone missing. Lovelight Farms is not the magical winter wonderland of Stella Bloom’s dreams.
In an effort to save the Christmas tree farm she’s loved since she was a kid, Stella enters a contest with Instagram-famous influencer Evelyn St. James. With the added publicity and the $100,000 cash prize, Stella might just be able to save the farm from its financial woes. There’s just one problem. To make the farm seem like a romantic destination for the holidays, she lied on her application and said she owns Lovelight Farms with her boyfriend. Only…there is no boyfriend.
Enter best friend Luka Peters. He just stopped by for some hot chocolate and somehow got a farm and a serious girlfriend in the process. But fake dating his best friend might be the best Christmas present he’s ever received.
What I Liked
Here’s what I would tell my best friend about the book:
- Friends to Lovers / Fake Dating: This was the first book I’ve read with these common romance tropes and I really enjoyed watching the main characters realize their true feelings.
- Cute Holiday Setting: The tree farm is described with perfect festive whimsy. It makes for a super-fun December read.
- Insightful Emotional Motivations: I appreciated the author’s insight into why Stella was hesitant to admit her true feelings for Luka. My heart swooned when he understood how to tread carefully around her anxieties.
- Fantastic Ending: I was on track to give the book 3 stars but the ending was so enjoyable it bumped it up to a 4-star read for me.
What I Didn’t Like
Every reader needs something different from a book. What I may not have preferred may be your favorite part.
I read this right after finishing The Christmas Tree Farm and the plots were a little too similar for me. Lovelight Farms was published first, so this was my fault in reading them back-to-back.
I also felt like there were a few side plots that didn’t connect well in the story arc. The resolution for them felt tacked on at the end like after thoughts.
How Spicy Is It?
🌶️🌶️🌶️: Lovelight Farms rates a Level 3 on my spicy books rating scale. Open door romance but there are only a couple scenes and lots of plot to carry the rest of the book.
Overall Score
⭐⭐⭐⭐
I give Lovelight Farms 4 stars. I read it during the busiest week of December into early January and it was a lovely way to unwind during slow moments.
