Choose a fun book club book to read during election season and keep your book club discussion light and away from current politics.

There have always been two major rules in the Peanut Blossom Book Club for Recovering Readers:

  1. No Tear Jerkers
  2. No Politics

Life is stressful. I started our online book club for women as a happy escape where we could lean on one another and enjoy fun reads together.

Discussion flows very freely in our private Facebook group. (Want to join us??)

I almost never have to moderate any comments because of one of our firmest rules: No discussing current politics. It’s just a recipe for disaster. Those conversations are better off happening in the real world, face-to-face, with people you trust.

But just because I avoid discussing politics online doesn’t mean we can’t find a fun book to read for book club during election season!

I pulled together a list with some of my favorite past book club books that would be perfect to read between now and November.

There’s a little something for everyone on the list below. You can keep things a little somber and reflective with a historical fiction book about women’s suffrage or past presidents, go for a lighter choice with a fun modern romance or fantasy, or dive deep into an action-packed political thriller set in Washington DC.

Whatever you choose to read with your book club group, be sure to plan fun red, white, and blue book club treats to nibble on while you meet!
